Honey and Clover (Hachimitsu to Clover) is a manga by Chika Umino and was first serialized in Shueisha’s CUTiEcomic in 2000. The anime adaptation first aired in 2005 and directed by Kenichi Kasai with animation by J.C. Staff. A second season subsequently aired in 2006.

Yuuta Takemoto, Takumi Mayama, Shinobu Morita, Ayumi Yamada close friends at an art college who are close to graduating. One day, one of the art professors, Shuuji Hanamoto, introduces his cousin’s daughter, Hagumi “Hagu” Hanamoto, who has come to live with him and is a first year at the art school. Upon introduction, Takemoto and Morita fall in love with her. But Hagu herself is very timid and afraid of boys. Another relationship that develops in the story is Yamada’s love for Mayama. Even though she is very popular with the guys, for some reason Yamada continues to see her only as a friend because he, in fact, is in love with someone else.
