Shion no Oh is a manga by Katori Masaru and illustrated by Jiro Ando. It was first serialized in manga magazine Afternoon in 2004. The anime adaptation premiered in 2007 with animation by Studio Deen and directed by Toshifumi Kawase (Tenjho Tenge)

Shion Ishiwatari was only a young child when her parents were murdered in her own home. The trauma of witnessing the event caused her to lose her voice and she has not spoken since. The only clue left behind by the killer was the “King” piece placed on her father’s shougi board. Shion was adopted and raised by her neighbours and learned to play Shougi. She was extremely talented and her name began to spread. However, as Shion becomes more famous, more information about her parents’ murder begin to surface. It seems that shougi may be the Shion’s key to finding out the truth.
