Baldr Force is a mecha anime set in a world where cyber network hacking has become a form of terrorism. Technology has evolved to the point where people can enter into a virtual world by plugging a cable into an implant chip directly connected to their brain and spinal cord. Individuals can have vivid experiences in the virtual worlds, but in extreme cases, also can be killed. Hackers and security forces such as the UN’s FLAK use virtual mecha called Simulacrums inside the networks. But being killed in a battle between Simulacrums usually means being killed in real life.
