Main Article: Ghost Hunt Anime Synopsis

The Ghost Hunt anime begins as Mai Taniyama and her friends stay after school to tell ghost stories. One of them speaks about the freaky events which occurred in the old abandoned school building next door. A teacher had commited suicide there and sometimes students see his ghost at the windows at night. When demolition crew tried to tear the building down, a section of the roof collapsed on the workers. Another time, a construction truck suddenly lost control and almost killed some students nearby. They are interrupted by a handsome man, Kazuya Shibuya, who wondered what they were doing that late at school. Kazuya was friendly, but Mai was a bit suspicious of him because he didn’t look like a student and was too young for a teacher.
Curious about the old school building, Mai decides to go have a peek the next day. She finds a camera inside but is surpised when a man shouts at her. She knocks over a shelf and would have been crushed if the man had not pushed her away. At this point, Kazuya appears and tends to his assistant who suffers an injury while rescing Mai. He tells Mai that he is from Shibuya Psychic Research Center and was hired to investigate the paranormal activities in the old building. Since Mai is responsible for his assistant’s accident, she must now serve as his replacement. They are joined by other spiritual professionals including an exorcist, a miko, a monk and a spirit medium. But after they gather at the old school building, odd things begin to happen.
