Background: Sisters of Wellber is an anime produced by Avex Entertainment and Production I.G.  The anime series aired in early 2007 with animation by Trans Arts Co. and directed by Takayuki Hamana (Prince of Tennis). In the same year, a related manga called MUZZLE-LOADER ~Wellber Stories~ was serialized in Monthly Comic Blade.

Wellber no Monogatari anime synopsis / summary:

  Tina Lawter, a superb marksman with her customized pistol, prides herself as a professional thief and is always after the next big heist.  When she gets bored of small time jobs, Tina decides to take her chances on looting the royal castle of Wellber.  The Kingdom of Wellber will soon celebrate the marriage of its Princess Rita Ciol to Prince Gernia Han of neighboring Sangatras.  Wellber and Sangatras have a history of wars between them and this marriage is a purely a political one to prevent further hostilities in the future.

  One evening, Prince Gernia arrives at the castle to meet with the princess.  Coincidentally, it is the same night that Tina decides to infiltrate the castle.  While skulking around, Tina finds the Princess Rita’s room and witnesses what appears to be Rita thrusting a sword into Gernia.  When the Gernia’s personal guards arrive, they attempt to kill Rita but she escapes with Tina, who is mistaken for an accomplice in the murder. Tina gives shelter to the fugitive princess who remembers nothing of what had happened, but discovers the next day that both herself and the princess have a large bounty on their heads. The country of Sangatras demands that the princess be captured and executed, many fear the situation can escalate to another war. 

  Rita’s only hope to stopping this catastrophe is to travel to the kingdom of Greedom on a secret diplomatic mission.  She is joined by Tina, who is involved in  all this whether she likes it or not.  Also accompanying them is Cyrano de Bergerac, a small and mobile tank with advanced AI.  With the help of her new companions, Rita must make it to Greedom in two weeks or war will break out again.
