    Hakuoro
      The protagonist of Utawarerumono.  Hakuoro is found seriously injured in theAA forest by Tusukuru and her family.  He regains consciousness without any memories of who he is or his past.  A horned white mask is attached to his face when he awoke and cannot be removed.
      Although he is amnesiac, Hakuro retains certain knowledges such as making fertilizer and explosives.  The villagers and his friends look up to him for leadership.  He was named Hakuoro after Tusukuru's deceased son, who was also Eruruu and Aruruu's father.  After Tusukuru's death and the subsequent peasant revolt, they nominate Hakuoro as the emperor of the country.
      Hakuoro is normally serious in speech and conduct.  Maybe a bit too serious since he seems to be totally oblivious to Eruruu's feelings for him.  He is calm minded and rational, making him a natural leader and tactician. Although he is the emperor, he does not hesitate to enter battle with his men.  He wields a metal fan given to him by Tusukuru and can hold his ground against most adversaries.
      Many people have taken an interest in Hakuoro ever since his appearance.  They speak of  his dark past and also of a god-like power which Hakuoro possesses.

    Hakuoro's metal fan can be used for thrusting when folded or slashing when spread Hakuoro possesses a dark power which is slowly awakening as he regains his memories

    Eruruu
          Eruruu is Aruruu's older sister and granddaughter to Tusukuru. She is learnig to be a healer and herbalist and is the one who nursed Hakuoro back to health.  Eruruu is a very reserved girl and is very careful of her mannerisms.  She is very kind to her friends and family, but can be forceful when dealing with uncooperative patients.  Eruruu becomes shy whenever her relationship with Hakuro is mentioned.

    Eruruu's unique hair ring appears ornamental, but may hide other secrets Eruruu is embarrassed when her tail is stroked, but her face says she's actually happy

    Aruruu
          Aruruu is Eruruu's younger sister and Tusukuru's granddaughter. She is usually very shy and hides from strangers.  Although quiet by nature, Aruruu can be very stubborn about what she wants.  She has a good relationship with Eruruu, who took care of her ever since their parents passed away.  Initially, Eruruu was shy about approaching Hakuoro, but she eventually accepts him and now refers to him as 'otou-san', which means father.
      Aruruu is good friends with Kamyu and Yuzuha, they often sneak out to play together with Mukuru.  Aruruu rides Mukuru as a mount and often follows Hakuoro into battle with him. Hakuoro and Eruruu have warned her many times about the dangers. But Aruruu is stubborn and doesn't listen, especailly when her father is in danger.

    Aruruu raised Mukuru after the Mutikapa was killed, they are now inseparable Aruruu loves to eat sweet things, she especially likes honey
