/
summary: Nozomu Itoshiki is a school teacher who views everything in life in the most negative way possible. His pessimistic nature is even reflected in his name; if the Japanese characters are written horizontally, they spell out 'despair.' One day as Nozomu is attempting suicide (one of his favorite hobbies) by hanging himself from a sakura tree, a young girl named Kafka Fura rushes to save him. Nozumu later finds out that Kafka is a student in his class for the new year. Her personality is the exact opposite of his; she is optimistic about virtually everything. Kafka is also very weird, she begins calling Nozumu 'Pink Supervisor' because that's the name she gave to the sakura tree he had tried to hang himself off of. But perhaps it is her awkwardness and overflowing sense of optimism that can finally persuade Nozomu to change his gloomy view of life. |
