Background: Tale of Saiunkoku, translated as Tale of the Land of Many- Coloured Clouds, was originally a novel by Sai Yukino with illustrations by Kairi Yura. It has been serialized in 'The Beans' Japanese magazine since 2003. In 2005, Tale of Saiunkoku was adapted into a manga serialized in Bean Ace. In 2006, the series was adapted into an anime with animation by Madhouse Studios. The second series premiered in 2007.

| Anime Summary / Synopsis: The second season of Saiunkoku Monogatari. Saiunkoku Monogatari takes place in a country similar to that of feudal China. The land of Saiunkoku is made up of eight provinces and ruled by an emperor. However, internal conflicts and a lack of confidence in the new heir to the throne has led to increased unrest and lawlessness throughout the countryside.
