Romeo x Juliet anime synopsis / summary:

Fourteen years ago the Capulets, the ruling family of the beautiful city of Neo Verona, were murdered by the duke of Montague. The sole survivor of that tragedy was the Juliet Capulet, the youngest daughter. She was rescued by knights loyal to the Capulet house and raised as a commoner in order to hide her from the duke. The duke took power over the city and ruled with a tyrannical iron fist. However his son and heir, Romeo, did not harbor the same thirst for power as his father but is bound by duty to the family.

To conceal her true identity, Juliet was made to disguise herself as a boy named Odin. She also learned fencing and so became quite a tomboy. Despite the objections of her guardians, Juliet would masquerade as the Red Whirlwind, a rebellious hero who saves the poor from abuse from Montague’s guards. During one scuffle, Juliet is saved by Romeo on his Pegasus mount. Although she quickly ran away, Juliet couldn’t help but feel an attraction to the young man. As fate would have it, she meets Romeo again at a masquerade ball; this time in her true form as a beautiful young woman. As soon as their eyes met, it was love at first sight.

On her sixteenth birthday, Juliet is finally told of her true identity as the last survivor of the Capulet family. The former knights of Capulet have gathered to pledge their loyalty to her as the rightful heir to the throne. But to reclaim what was stolen from her family, Juliet must battle the Montague family and ultimately come into conflict with Romeo.
