  Kate, Rachel, Rose, Claire and Liza are students who attend a high school on Roosevelt Island in New York.  One late night, each girl is brought home unconscious by men dressed in black. But the car carrying Liz is attacked by people walking on all fours and with superhuman strength.
  The remaining girls all wake up the next morning feeling uneasy and restless. None of them remember what happedned to them the night before and can't explain to their family or friends why they weren't able to be contacted.  When they arrive at school, they learn that Liza was found dead in a park.  The police believe it to be a suicide but the detectives think its suspicious.  It was the fifth case in the last month to involve a girl commiting suicide, and all five cases were too similar.
  The high school closes down for mourning that day. Kate, Rachel, Rose and Claire all walk home separately but each sees eerie butterflies which none of their friends can see.  That night, the four girls gather at a park at the same time, as if they were summoned there by someone or something.  As they try to sort out the confusion, a woman and a man dressed in black approaches them from the shadows.
  The woman's name is Rula, her partner is JC, and they tell the girls they are already dead.  From this point on, they must follow Rula and her organization's orders.  Their task is to hunt down demons who look like normal people and reside within New York itself.  As if to prove the seriousness of their situation, one of the demons appears from the shadows and attacks.
