Pumpkin Scissors anime synopsis /
summary:
A country simply known as the Empire was in a long and
costly war with the Republic of Frost. The people suffered and believed
there would be no end to their impoverishment. But then one day, a
ceasefire was declared out of the blue and the war was over just like
that.
However, the Empire had exhausted its resources during the
war and many
people were jobless and homeless. Three years later, much of the
country is still in ruins, people are starving and a plague is
spreading through the countryside. Many veterans of the war have become
bandits and prey on the communities which cannot defend themselves. In
response, the Empire creates special military units to provide Imperial
Army relief to those areas in need of help.
One such unit is commanded by Lieutenant Alice L. Marvin,
her unit is
the Pumpkin Scissors. Alice's group is small because their purpose is
to gather recon on areas that need relief and then call up
reinforcements from HQ. But Alice tends to act like a hero in every
situation and just charge in. Alice has good intentions but her
impulsiveness often get herself and her comrades in more risky
situations than they need to.
Alice meets her counterpart on one mission to a remote
village
terrorized by a group of ex-Imperial soldiers. She meets the large man
named Randel Orlando, a war veteran who was part of the fearsome Anti
Tank Troopers. Randel is normally quiet and a pacifist, but he shares
the same belief as Alice in providing war relief to those suffering the
most. Randel carries a lantern on his belt like all members of the
former ATT. By releasing the eerie blue light from the lantern, he goes
into a zombie like state where he attacks the enemy, even a tank,
without regard for his own well being until it is destroyed.
Alice invites Randel to join her unit after he helps her
save the
village and defeat the bandits. Randel's brawn and calmness are a good
match against Alice's hotheadedness. Together, they work to restore the
Empire and relieve the people from their suffering. |
