Background: Keroro Gunso first started as a manga in 1999 by Mine Yoshizaki and serialized in Shonen Ace. It was adapted into an anime in 2004 and gained much popualrity. A Keroro Gunso movie came out in 2006 with a second movie is planned for 2007.

/
summary: Keroro Gunso, translated as Sergeant Frog, is a comedy anime series about a group of frog-like aliens and their various oddball attempts at conquering Earth. Sergeant Keroro was given command by his superiors to lead a Keron expedition to conquer Earth (known as Pekopon by aliens). Because is relatively primitive compared to rest of the galaxy, the Keroro Platoon only consisted of five members. Sergeant Keroro is the leader, Private 2nd Class Tamama is his loyal suboordinate, Corporal Giroro is the combat specialist, Sergeant Major Kururu the tech whiz, and Lance Corporal Dororo the ninja assassin. From the start, Keroro’s mission was a disaster. His team gets separated and crash lands on Earth. Keroro blows his cover to the Hinata family and is ‘captured’ by them. Koyuki Hinata manages to take Keroro’s secret weapon, the Keroro Ball, away from Keroro and keeps it for safe keeping in his room; he effectively stops the invasion of Earth singlehandedly. But despite his failure, Keroro seems quite happy in his current situation. He starts doing the house chores in exchange for an allowance so he can buy more gunpla (Gundam models). When Keroro’s Platoon finally reunites, he renews his efforts to conquer Earth and reverse the tables on the Hinata family. At least, he tries to. Most of time Keroro prefers to just build his precious Gundam models and surf the internet. Also, Keroro’s plans are usually absurd, and Fuyuki’s sister Natsumi is often there to foil his efforts. Keroro must also deal with the horrifying fact that if he succeeds in conquering Earth, there might not be anymore Gundam models for him to build. |
