Kannaduki no Miko anime synopsis / summary:

Kannazuki no Miko mixes many anime genres and motifs together into an anime that can be confusing at times but can still deliver some entertainment value.  The story revolves around the two heroines, Himeko Kurusugawa and Chikane Himemiya, two students at the elite Ototachibana Academy in the fictional city of Mahoraba, Japan.  When the clumsy Himeko first meets the elegant Chikane, they find them selves hopelessly attracted to one another.  It is no coincidence that they are the reincarnations of the Solar and Lunar Miko (Priestesses),  ancient guardians who protect the world from evil entities.

On the first day of October, known as the godless month, an evil group known as the Orochi awakens bent on killing the Miko, who are the only ones preventing them from spreading their darkness across the world.  The spirits of the Orochi are awakened inside once normal humans.  One of them is Himeko’s classmate and secret admirer, Soma Ogami.  Soma goes berserk and is bent on killing Himeko, the Lunar Miko.  He released a sealed mecha belonging to his Orochi and attacks Himeko at the school dorms.  Chikane comes to her rescue but is helpless against Soma’s mecha.  When Himeko is about to be crushed by Soma, a blinding light is emitted from her which bringing Soma back to his senses.  Soma realizes he has been manipulated by the Orochi to kill the one he loves.  He rejects his fate to become one of the Orochi and swears to defend Himeko against the others who threaten her life.
