Background: Eureka Seven began as the anime series created and produced by studio Bones, first airing in early 2005. A manga adaptation of the anime by Jinsei Kataoka, Kazuma Kondou was serialized in Shonen Ace beginning in 2005. Another spin-off manga series by Miki Kizuki called Gravity Boys & Lifting Girl was serialized in Compatiq; it is based on the Eureka Seven video games. Eureka Seven is licensed for North American distribution by Bandai Entertainment.

Eureka Seven anime synopsis / summary:

Renton Thurston is the fourteen-year-old son of Adrock Thurston, a military researcher who died saving the world. He lives what he considers a boring life with his mechanic grandfather in a boring town. He loves lifting, a sport similar to surfing but with air as the medium, and dreams of joining the crew of the renegade group Gekkostate and its leader, the legendary lifter Holland.

Such an opportunity literally falls into his lap when a unique mecha, called Nirvash typeZERO, and a member of Gekkostate crash into Renton's room. After his grandfather orders him to deliver a special part to the Nirvash, which causes it to show off an impressive display of power, Renton is invited to join Gekkostate, where he quickly discovers that the behind-the-scenes life of Gekkostate is hardly as glamorous or as interesting as printed in the glossy pages of their magazine, ray=out. Only one thing makes it all worthwhile for him: the presence of Eureka, the mysterious and attractive pilot of the Nirvash.
