		Mayu Mayu was a runaway child who lived on the beach near Kouta and Yuka's residence. She lived there with a young puppy she named Wanta. Wanta was also abandoned by his owner, so Mayu formed a natural bond with him. Mayu was sexually abused by her stepfather. When she told her mother, Mayu was instead scolded and even blamed for it. After Kouta found her on the beach, he decides to let her live with him and the other girls. Later, Mayu is officially adopted by Kouta and Yuka.
		Nana Nana is a young Diclonius who was trained by the secret government agency to follow their orders. She is not psychotic like other Diclonius such as Lucy and is hesitant to inflict excess harm onto others. Karuma took care of her in the lab and she refers to him as her father, but they are not related by blood. Nana can use the same number as vectors as Lucy, but hers have a slightly longer range. Nana's name in the lab was Number 7, 'Nana' is the Japanese word for seven. Nana was originally sent to recapture or kill Lucy, but she lost the battle. Later, Kurama helped her escape from the lab and provided her with artificial limbs to replace those lost in her battle with Lucy. Coincidentally, she was taken in by Kouta and Yuka. Nana recognized Nyu as Lucy, but eventually befriended her after realizing that Nyu was innocent.
		Kurama Kurama is a chief researcher at the secret laboratory where they imprison captured Diclonius. He lost his wife during the birth of their daughter, Mariko, who turned out to be a Diclonius. Kurama was ordered to kill all Diclonius births, but couldn't do it to his own child. Mariko was kept alive in the lab by Chief Kakuzawa, so Kurama owes him a great debt. Kurama cared for Nana in the lab and treated her like his own daughter. He later helps her escape from the lab. The ribbon Nana wears on her head is actually a tie from Kuruma.
		Arakawa Arukawa is a young researcher at the secret Diclonius lab. She worked under Professor Yu Kakuzawa to come up with a vaccine against the Diclonius virus. She is a little scatter brained and usually complains about having too much work at the lab. Arakawa has a more important role in the Elfen Lied manga, but this was left out in the anime.
