| Anime Summary / Synopsis: Twenty years ago, an asteroid which was headed for Earth collided with Pluto and became stagnated in its orbit. Scientists named the asteroid Thanatos but soon learned it was more than just a piece of space debris. ‘Dragon’-like creatures begin appearing on Earth and commit murders as well as wreck havoc to cities. The special agency formed to fight these aliens, the International Solarsystem Development Agency (ISDA), has determined that Thanatos is the origin of the creatures. They form the ‘D-Project’ and which involves creating their own ‘Dragons’ using mysterious eggs found deep in the sea, possibly also from Thanatos. However, these eggs will bond with the first human they come into contact and also allow that individual to pilot them. The specially selected human pilots are dubbed the Dragonauts. Jin Kamishina’s entire family was killed in a fiery crash when their shuttle was hit by a mysterious object entering the Earth’s atmosphere during take off. Jin was the only survivor and has never really gotten over the event. One night while walking home, he encounters a beast-like man in the act of killing a woman. The creature turns his attention to him and chase him to the top of a building where Jin is forced to jump off. He falls but is rescued by a young girl named Toa, who then single-handedly beats back the beast. Even though it is the first time they have met, Jin realizes he has natural bond with her.
