Amaenaideyo is a love comedy centered on the male
protagonist, Ikkou
Satonaka, and his love interest, Chitose Nambu. Ikkou and
Chitose are both trainees at a Buddhist temple along with several other
monks in training. Of course, this being a harem anime, all
the other monks besides Ikkou are young girls. Chitose is
only allowed to live and train with the girls because his grandmother
is in charge of the temple; this seems to be a popular plot device that
has been used in similar shows like Love Hina.
As a monk, Ikkou is not a very good one. He
usually forgets
incantations or screws up important ceremonies. As a
consequence, he does most of the cooking and cleaning at the
temple. Ikkou is also quite a pervert, so serving a bunch of
girls is not such a bad deal. Most of the girls just accept
his perverted nature, all except Chitose. While Ikkou is
normally a poor monk, he has a special ability to turn into a super
monk whenever he gets sexually aroused. The girls have
learned that Ikkou’s ability can be triggered in an emergency
if he sees a naked girl, it just so happens that Chitose is almost
always the one forced to strip. Chitose actually has a crush
on Ikkou, but he always seems to be at the wrong place at the wrong
time and catches Chitose in various states of undress.
It’s a classic love/hate relationship.
